Here’s something “All American” about ice cream, so why not cool down in the heat of the sweltering summer and give a five-fingered salute not just to milkshakes, but to the perfected milkshake.  Any soda jerk worth his rock salt can tell you that there’s a lot more to creating the perfect milkshake than a pitcher of milk and generous scoop of ice cream; yes, these things are beautiful, but so is just the right variation of sweet flavors and willingness to go to even sweeter extremes.
Now, this recipe comes with a disclaimer: as we all know, most of us don’t want to mess with our girlish figures by partaking in too many dairy delights and gooey confections. But you know what? A little ice cream—so long as it’s enjoyed in moderation—can be good for you! All natural ice cream is loaded with calcium, known for, well…doing the body good! Getting enough calcium helps ensure normal blood pressure, reduces the risk of colon cancer and builds stronger bones. It can even lessen the symptoms of PMS—so make sure you have the soda jerk bring over the “leftover milkshake” in that silver shaker after that first pour, ladies.
But here’s a recipe so you don’t have to leave home! Get out your blender and your high-end malt glasses for a very special treat…drumroll…The Perfected Milkshake earns its title because it’ll leave you with a creamy moustache—and better than that, the recipe serves you and 3 friends!
The Perfected Milkshake for You and 3 BFFs
Preparation time:  10 minutes
1 quart best quality vanilla ice cream
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup milk
1 cup half and half

•    Place all of the ingredients in a blender and pulse to combine.
•    Serve with whipped cream, chopped nuts and top with a cherry.

Sidebar: Try these variations on this basic theme:
1.          Substitute with chocolate ice cream and ¼ cup chocolate syrup.
2.          Add ¼ cup brewed coffee and substitute half of the vanilla ice cream with chocolate for a mocha flavor.
3.          Substitute with strawberry ice cream and add ½ cup sliced strawberries.
4.          Substitute half of the ice cream with praline flavored ice cream and add 2 tablespoon of maple syrup.
