Who’s Creating? Wednesday: Carina

This week we’re featuring the gorgeous, hilarious & talented Carina of The Jet Set.  I got a real kick out of interviewing her.  She’s witty & very lovable.

Here’s a little bio info about Carina:

Carina is a professional writer, a modern design freak, crunchy mom, reluctant sleeper, who devours television and music. She lives in Provo, Utah, on purpose, with her husband and two boys who have destroyed every object that she loves. She blogs at The Jet Set.

1. Why is creativity important to you?

If I don’t create then I will explode, simple as that. It’s my way of channeling my energy, clearing my mind, and making something the way that I envision. I am creative in every area of my life; it’s inseparable from who I am.

2. What do you enjoy creating the most?

I paint, I sew, I craft, I knit, I design, I bake and I write. You can’t make me pick just one. I create according to mood and season: painting and knitting in the winter, writing and sewing year round.

3. Do you have any fears when creating? Are your family & friends supportive of the things you create?

I have no fear when creating (other than that I will forget to feed the children and replace the toilet paper.) My family and friends are always supportive of my creative endeavors. They are also jealous, which is how it should be.

4. How do you find time to create?

I don’t sleep! Sleep is boring! I start projects at 10:30pm. I don’t mean to, it just happens. Most of the time I force myself to quit around midnight, other nights I go into the wee hours.

5. Words of inspiration to creative chicks:

You have it in your head, now you just have to get it out. Don’t be afraid of trying, at worst it will be something you can laugh about (gold pants I sewed in the 9th grade and wore to school, I’m looking in your direction.) At best, you created something beautiful out of what used to be chaos. Check you out!
